Plaza Food Hall New York
Commissioned to transform the basement at the iconic Plaza Hotel into a European-style food hall, Jeffrey Beers International collaborated with Chef Todd English to sculpt a cavernous subterranean space into nine inviting restaurant and retail food stations. For the Food Hall’s expansion in 2012, Beers worked with the Plaza to curate a diverse selection of upscale epicurean shops, their layout carefully designed to engage visitors. The materials used are classically opulent but filtered through a contemporary lens: slim stools are wrapped in leather, the woodwork is espresso-stained oak, solid slabs of Carrera marble form the countertops, and the black-and-white interlocking ring pattern of the marble mosaicked floor is echoed on the sides of the drum pendant lights suspended from the ceiling.
